Sheena Rose (b. 1985, Barbados) is a multidisciplinary visual artist whose practice spans painting, drawing, performance art, new media, public art, and mixed media. She is a Fulbright Scholar and holds an MFA in Studio Art from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro.

Rose has exhibited internationally and participated in numerous biennials, museum exhibitions, galleries, art fairs, festivals, auctions, artist residencies, and public and private collections. Her work has been featured widely in international media, newspapers, and magazines, including The New York Times, Travel + Leisure, Vogue, Hospitality Design, Whitewall, and WeTransfer. Her work has also appeared in cultural projects and publications such as Black Futures, the Fox television series Empire (Season 6), and the novel The Star Side of Bird Hill by Naomi Jackson.

 

In 2019, Rose created a two-story mural at the headquarters of the Inter-American Development Bank in Washington, D.C., and a eighteen-foot-tall mural of women for the exhibition The Other Side of Now at the Pérez Art Museum Miami.

 

She is the founder of Sheena Rose Inc., through which she develops large-scale public art and design projects. Her public art practice includes a commission from the DSM Public Art Foundation to design seven bus shelters along the 6th Avenue Corridor in Des Moines, Iowa.

 

Rose has received several honors for her artistic contributions. In 2020, she was awarded the Distinguished Alumni Award from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro School of Art. In 2022, she was recognized by Barbados Prime Minister Mia Amor Mottley for her contributions to culture at the Barbados Labor Party Annual Conference.

In 2026, Rose received the Anthony N. Sabga Awards for Caribbean Excellence in Arts & Letters, one of the region’s highest honors, recognizing her outstanding contribution to Caribbean art and culture.
